I was sat looking out the
window the other week ,
thoroughly browned of with the
weather when I decided enough was enough so, on
t'internet I went and booked a week in the sun! with nice beaches and
interesting birds? But there was a catch, her in doors and the sprog had to go as well, well someone has to carry the extra luggage!! I suppose the Volcano above gives it away, being the third largest on the planet a total floor to ceiling height of 6
Km's with only 2 in
Hawaii being bigger. I took that as gospel so did not measure it, well not all of it.

Bright sunshine, temperature in the low 70's, and this
Sardinian warbler posing like hell outside the reception. So day one was as always park bags in room missus on lounger to fry throw sprog in pool and out for a
bimble in the local grounds to see what was about there are some
piccies later. Now Day Two was the lets go and see some cetaceans and get a tan, and some
Shearwater, Petrels etc.

A nice
cory's for starters, bode well for the trip, not , Petrels were all
bloomin distant but got great and
Bulwers yipee.

The early morning prowler of the pool never stayed long.

"Pick your fish for lunch? yeah right, the one smiling?

Well I don' suppose you can go to the Canaries and not take a picture of a Canary that would darn right rude.

Now I like to see Parrots in the wild, but when a group of mixed Parrots decide the tree right outside your bedroom window is a fitting place for the dawn chorus, Well a couple of
japanese work boots (Flip Flops) not aimed well ,cleared them of to next door HA! As to what they all were well
there being a couple of Parrot parks on the island they are not native
thats for sure ID later. But pretty?

A
guesstimating of the identity of this being a Yellow crowned amazon? parrot

And another one that was a bit shy?

Now when this
Blackcap decided to sing in
front of the window, need I say more Brill.

The third of species seen was the pilot whales here a mother and calf the male being of with the rest of his
hareem resting! after a night spent diving
upto 500-600 meters for
sqiud, which he gives to the female, with dives lasting
upto 35 minutes and making around 5 per night now wonder he is resting. I will get round to sorting the other shots out at a later time I think.

Fancy going
all foriegn to see Common Sandpipers, but a nice trip tick along with
Turnstones.

Only here cause it looks nice?

Another well known species but look at the difference it is the
Tenerife blue tit.

OK I don't know, it is not in the book for the island so presume another escaped
bird but which one, a
Mynah perhaps? nice colours with bright yellow eyes.

Some warblers were in short supply,
apart from
Chiffchaff with croaky throats!!! and no they are not mini
nannas.

After insects? or was there a rather nice drop of the hard stuff up there? I will leave the last two for you to ID, drop a comment if you get it, come to that also for the Parrots.
I do not want to bore you so will close here there are loads more to come but might not do them for a while will have to see loads to catch up on.
